Staircase Railing Refinish and Material Upgrade

Project Overview

This project focused on updating an existing staircase and second-floor railing system by replacing the lighter, unfinished rail components with a richer, more refined look. The original railings lacked contrast and visual weight, causing the staircase to blend into the surrounding space. By upgrading the handrails and key trim elements, the staircase was transformed into a stronger architectural feature while preserving the home’s original layout and structure.

Before

The original staircase featured lighter-toned railings and unfinished components that felt visually flat and lacked definition. While structurally sound, the railings did not provide enough contrast against the walls and flooring, leaving the staircase feeling unfinished and less intentional within the space.

After

The updated staircase now features darker, stained handrails paired with crisp white balusters, creating a balanced contrast that adds warmth and visual depth. The refined finishes define the stair lines more clearly, improve overall flow between levels, and elevate the staircase into a polished focal point of the home.
